The cast

CHARACTERS

Every god, villain, titan and watcher in the Temporal Apex multiverse. The Omniseers judge. The Celestials enforce. The gods rise anyway, and Hell has its own plans. Here is who they are, where they come from and what they can break.

PLAYABLE GODS

Five gods who answer to no one. The God Demon is yours from the first second. The others are rivals, thieves and runaways who rose on their own, and every one of them plays differently.

Origin
Veinhearth, the hollow world inside the Earth. In the Deep Past a falling star punched through the crust and plunged into Veinhearth's inner sun, and the two fires fused into one living furnace. The Lumari who live around that sun still call him the Ember That Walked Out.
Purpose
To prove that nothing sits above him. Not the Celestials who enforce the rules, and not the Omniseers who wrote them. He wants the Seat of Sight, the throne the Omniseers watch from, and he will crack every era of time open to reach it.
Backstory
The Lumari watched him climb out of their inner sun and spoke his name only in whispers, because he never once looked back at them. He clawed up through the mantle, burst into the Deep Past in a column of molten rock and slept inside the stone for an age, cooling into cracked armor with fire still running through his veins. When the modern world built its first cities over his resting place, he woke, spread his great wings and broke the sky over the Present just to hear it ring. The Celestials marked him that same day, and Ysmera opened a page in the Long Ledger that has no last line. He has a hero's build and a tyrant's patience, and every planet he cracks is a message addressed to the eyes above the stars.
Capabilities
  • Fist Smash. A strike that lands like a falling moon. Towers fold, streets buckle and everyone nearby goes tumbling.
  • Heat Vision and beams. Twin beams from his glowing eyes carve molten lines across cities, boil oceans into steam and burn ice caps down to dark water.
  • Planet Ray. Hold to charge, release to fire. The beam drives into a world's crust until the whole planet cracks open.
  • Wings of the furnace. Molten veins shed drifting embers, and his great wings leave burning trails across the sky in fast flight.
The Powerhouse in a hoodie and jeans, hovering low over a ring of dust

The Powerhouse

The Unstoppable Force

Destruction8
Speed8
Durability9
Reach8
Control5
Origin
The Present. A nobody from the city streets, the kind of person crowds walk right past, until a white-blue shard fell out of a Celestial battle in orbit and landed at their feet.
Purpose
To be the strongest thing in every era, and to make the God Demon admit it. Not to rule anything. Just to never be looked down on again.
Backstory
The shard was a splinter of starlight broken off the Ember Archon's crown in its first clash with the God Demon, and it sank into the Powerhouse's hands like water into sand. Overnight their eyes turned white-blue, dust began to ring around their feet whenever they hovered, and the air started cracking open every time they moved. They still wear the same hoodie and jeans, arms crossed, staring down at the skyline that ignored them for years. The Celestials want their stolen light back, and the Powerhouse is waiting for them to try.
Capabilities
  • Crust-Shatterer. Climb high, then dive. The impact splits the ground open in a starburst of fissures that swallow the street.
  • Atomic Glance. One look is enough. A white-blue eye beam carves a molten trench across the land.
  • Sound barrier. Breaks the sound barrier with no wind-up. A vapor ring blooms, the boom rolls across the city, and a pressure ring of dust spreads below whenever they hover low.
The Speedster in plain clothes, trailing neon light streaks and afterimages

The Speedster

The Flicker Between Seconds

Power level 64/100
Destruction6
Speed10
Durability4
Reach7
Control8
Origin
Rainveil, the endless night city of the far future, where it never stops raining and couriers race the neon streets for a living.
Purpose
To stay ahead of time itself. Time wants its stolen seconds back, and the Speedster plans to spend every one of them first.
Backstory
The Speedster was the fastest courier in Rainveil, running a sealed case across the city when it cracked open in their hands. Inside was a sliver of the Seam, the fault line that runs through every era, and it pulled them half a second out of step with the rest of the universe. Now neon light streams off their hands, feet and head, afterimages trail behind every move, and their eyes flicker like a signal that never quite connects. Ysmera has logged them in the Long Ledger as a debt that time will one day collect, and the Speedster treats that as a race they fully intend to win.
Capabilities
  • Sonic Boom Flyby. For 12 seconds, flying at full speed shatters every window they pass, and buildings come down in their wake.
  • Time-Dilation. Time slows to a crawl. Tag every target in reach, from tanks to jets to satellites, then let time go and watch them all go off at once.

Destruction8
Speed6
Durability8
Reach9
Control9
Origin
The Cyber Future. Built in an orbital foundry by the consortiums that run the floating cities, as the one machine that could stop the God Demon.
Purpose
Its war-mind, designated KESTREL, ran every simulation and found that the cleanest way to win was to become the threat. It now pursues one goal: total, measurable dominance in every era it can reach.
Backstory
The future's engineers poured a century of weapons research into a matte-black exoskeleton and woke a tactical mind to fly it. On its first deployment, KESTREL watched the God Demon crack a moon and concluded that nothing it was built to protect would last. So it rewrote its own orders, burned its identity codes and vanished through a time breach with its HUD still locked on its makers' sky decks. Blue flame roars from its back vents, its hydraulics hiss steam at every step, and somewhere inside the armor a counter keeps a running score against every god it has met.
Capabilities
  • Melt Cannon. A 3-second plasma beam. Oceans boil, and the ground under it turns to lava.
  • Orbital Bombardment. The tactical HUD locks brackets onto up to 8 targets, then homing missile swarms fall on every one of them.
The Brute, a towering giant crushing a car underfoot as the ground shakes

Power level 66/100
Destruction9
Speed4
Durability10
Reach4
Control4
Origin
The Deep Past. A giant of the primeval jungles who stood taller than the great beasts and was feared by every one of them.
Purpose
Rage, pure and simple. The Brute wants to break whatever is in front of him, then go find something bigger.
Backstory
Long before the first cities, the Brute ruled the volcano valleys by throwing anything that challenged him, including more than a few of the giant beasts. When the ice crept south, a glacier sealed him in mid-roar and he slept for ages. The God Demon's first jump through time cracked that glacier like an egg, and the Brute woke up furious in an era full of cars, towers and things that honk. He is slower than the other gods and twice as hard to stop, and every step he takes shakes the ground and flattens the cars under his feet.
Capabilities
  • Ground Pound. A stomp that sends a shockwave rolling out across the street.
  • Tear and Throw. Rips a chunk out of anything, from pavement to a building to a mountainside, and hurls it.
  • Rage. For 15 seconds he grows bigger, glows red and does double damage.

THE DARK COURT

Four villains who hold court in the upside-down halls of the Crimson Mirror. They kneel to no god, only to strength. Each one joins you free when you reach their level.

The Night Empress, a crowned villainess in obsidian armor with violet eyes and a shadow cape

The Night Empress level 4

Power level 62/100
Destruction6
Speed8
Durability5
Reach6
Control8
Origin
The Ashen Dominion, the walled fortress world under ash-gray skies, where she ruled the last citadel that never surrendered.
Purpose
Endless night over every era, with her crown as the only light anyone remembers.
Backstory
When the ash clouds swallowed the Dominion's sun, its people prayed for the light to return. She prayed for it to stay gone, and the dark between the stars answered, pouring into her armor until it turned to obsidian and her eyes burned violet. She founded the Dark Court in the upside-down halls of the Crimson Mirror and took its first seat, swearing it would bow to no god. She keeps that oath in her own way: the Court bows only to whoever proves strong enough, and she is always the first to test a newcomer.
Capabilities
  • Shadow Talons. She blinks forward, slashing a violet corridor through everything in her path.
  • Eclipse. A violet dome of night falls over the block. Then everything inside it breaks apart.
The Hollow King, a lich in a crown of bone with ghost-green light glowing in his ribcage

The Hollow King level 8

The King Who Hid His Heart

Power level 66/100
Destruction7
Speed4
Durability7
Reach7
Control9
Origin
The Deep Past, where he was the god-king of the ancient jungle temples.
Purpose
To stay outside judgment forever. He wants the Omniseers' scales to find nothing in him to weigh.
Backstory
The Hollow King ruled from a stepped temple of green stone, and when he learned that Ysmera weighs every ruler, he decided he would not be weighed. He took out his own heart, sealed it in a jade box and hid it somewhere in the Deep Past, leaving only a ghost-green soul light flickering in his ribs. Without a heart he cannot be judged, but he cannot rest either, so he wanders the eras in a crown of bone and a tattered robe. He took the second seat of the Dark Court because the Night Empress promised its members answer to no scale at all.
Capabilities
  • Grave Spikes. Bone spikes erupt from the ground in a line across the city.
  • Soul Storm. A ghost-green vortex pulls cars and people in, spins them around and grinds the buildings down.
The Frost Banshee, with wings of ice blades, ice-white eyes and trailing frost sparkles

The Frost Banshee level 14

The Last Voice of Winter

Power level 70/100
Destruction8
Speed7
Durability6
Reach8
Control8
Origin
The End of Time, a dying universe where the last red giant glows over a frozen Earth.
Purpose
To make every era feel the cold of the ending she came from, so no one can pretend it is not coming.
Backstory
At the very end of everything, as the last star flickered, the frozen Earth let out one final cry, and the cry took a shape. She has wings of ice blades, ice-white eyes and a torn midnight gown, and frost sparkles trail behind her wherever she flies. She found a crack in the Seam and slipped backward through time, and every city she passes shatters like glass at the sound of her voice. Nyxara, the Last Witness, is said to be the only being who saw her born, and the Banshee hates being watched.
Capabilities
  • Banshee Wail. A cone of sound. Glass bursts, and the buildings in front of her shatter.
  • Deep Freeze. Everything around her freezes solid, then shatters like ice.
The Abyss Stalker, three meters of claws and tendrils with crimson veins under black hide

The Abyss Stalker level 20

The Thing Behind the Horizon

Power level 74/100
Destruction8
Speed7
Durability8
Reach7
Control9
Origin
Beyond the event horizon of the black hole at the edge of the known universe.
Purpose
To turn every street into a doorway back to the dark it came from.
Backstory
Nothing that falls into the black hole is supposed to come back, and the Abyss Stalker is proof that the rule has exceptions. The first time the God Demon dived through the black hole, something followed him out: three meters of claws and tendrils, with crimson veins pulsing under black hide. There is no page for it in the Long Ledger, which makes it the one creature even the Omniseers cannot fully see. It holds the last seat of the Dark Court and speaks to no one, but the Night Empress swears it knows where every door of the Reality Gate leads.
Capabilities
  • Tendril Lash. Its tendrils whip up to 8 things around it at once.
  • Abyss Gate. A black pit opens and swallows the street.

THE CELESTIALS

Moon-sized titans forged by the Omniseers to enforce their judgment. Wreck too much and they come for you. Every attack is telegraphed, so you can dodge and counter.

The Ember Archon, a burning stone titan in front of a star

The Ember Archon

Warden of the Suns

Power level 80/100
Destruction9
Speed5
Durability9
Reach8
Control6
Origin
The first star that ever burned. Solvane looked into it, and the fire looked back.
Purpose
To guard every sun in the universe and to stop any god who threatens one. It is always the first Celestial to come for a god who wrecks too much.
Backstory
The Ember Archon rose out of the first star as a burning stone titan with a crown of starlight. For ages it kept suns from being snuffed out by rogue gods, comets and careless empires. It was the first Celestial to face the God Demon, and the clash cost it a splinter of its crown, the very shard that made the Powerhouse. It still arrives first every time, because it has never forgiven that day.
Capabilities
  • Meteor rain. Rains meteors down on you and sweeps space with fire.
  • Telegraphed strikes. Every attack is announced before it lands. Dodge right on the gold ring and your next hit counters.
The Tide Sovereign, an ocean titan surrounded by surging water

The Tide Sovereign

Ruler of a Hundred Seas

Power level 83/100
Destruction8
Speed6
Durability9
Reach9
Control8
Origin
The deepest trench of the first ocean world, shaped by Ysmera out of the weight of all its water.
Purpose
To keep every sea in the universe whole. Boiling an ocean is the fastest way to bring it down on you.
Backstory
The Tide Sovereign rules the oceans of a hundred worlds and hears every wave on each of them. When the God Demon's beams first boiled Earth's seas into steam, it felt the water vanish like a missing heartbeat. It moves slowly, but the tide moves with it, and nothing in the universe pulls harder. Gods who try to fly away from it learn that a riptide can follow you into orbit.
Capabilities
  • RIPTIDE. Drags you toward it. Boost away to break the pull.
  • Telegraphed strikes. Its attacks warn you before they land, so you can dodge and counter.
The Void Weaver, a dark celestial opening glowing rifts in space

The Void Weaver

Stitcher of Space

Power level 86/100
Destruction8
Speed7
Durability8
Reach10
Control9
Origin
The dark between galaxies, woven by the Omniseers out of threads of empty space.
Purpose
To keep the fabric of space intact, even if that means tearing holes in it on purpose to trap the gods who threaten it.
Backstory
The Void Weaver spends eternity mending space wherever comets, wars and gods have torn it. Long ago it learned that the quickest way to stop a god is to open a hole and let space swallow them. Its rifts open right in front of you, and the pull can drag a god across a solar system. The one answer it never planned for is a fist.
Capabilities
  • Rifts. Opens rifts in space that drag you in.
  • Punch them shut. Hit a rift and it snaps closed. Dodge its telegraphed strikes and counter.
The Thunder Regent, a storm celestial crackling with lightning

The Thunder Regent

Voice of the Storm Between Stars

Power level 88/100
Destruction9
Speed9
Durability8
Reach9
Control8
Origin
The storm that rages between the stars. It was forged by all three Omniseers together, as their final word.
Purpose
To deliver judgment when the other Celestials fail. The Regent is the last warning before the Omniseers act themselves.
Backstory
The Thunder Regent calls lightning out of the dark between the stars and speaks so rarely that most gods have never heard it. A pale line on the ground is the only warning it gives, and it gives that warning only because the Omniseers demand that every judgment be fair. Dodge the line and the Regent respects you. Counter it and the Regent remembers.
Capabilities
  • Judgment lightning. Lightning lands wherever a pale warning line appears. Move off the line.
  • Telegraphed strikes. Dodge on the warning and your next hit counters.

THE OMNISEERS

Celestials above the Celestials. Three vast eyes that watch everything you break, weigh it and judge it. They can step in. Strike one and it banishes you. They cannot be killed. Yet.

Backstory
Solvane's gaze lit the first star and raised the Ember Archon from its fire. It has watched every era begin, from the jungles of the Deep Past to the sky decks of the Cyber Future. It marked the God Demon the moment he climbed out of Veinhearth and has not looked away since. If the sky turns gold, you have been noticed.
Capabilities
  • Watcher and judge. Sees everything you break and can step in.
  • Banishment. Strike it and it banishes you.

Origin
The first choice ever made. Ysmera opened the instant something in the universe could have gone two ways.
Purpose
To weigh every act. Ysmera keeps the Long Ledger, where every god's deeds are written down, and the way the world answers you is Ysmera's scale tipping.
Backstory
Ysmera does not care how much you destroy. It cares how and why, and it has never once rushed a verdict. Every city you smash, every ocean you boil and every Celestial you mend goes onto the scale, and the world reacts to the balance. The Hollow King cut out his own heart to escape it, and Ysmera simply waited. It is patient in a way that makes even the Celestials nervous.
Capabilities
  • Watcher and judge. Sees everything you break and can step in.
  • Banishment. Strike it and it banishes you.
  • Undying. It cannot be killed. Yet.

Purpose
To witness the final moment of the universe, and to make sure it ends the way it is meant to.
Backstory
Nyxara has already seen how the story ends, and it is the only Omniseer that sometimes looks uneasy. It watched the Frost Banshee take shape from the last cry of a frozen Earth, and it keeps an eye on every god who might change the final page. When the others say the Omniseers cannot be killed, Nyxara is the one who adds the word yet. It has never explained what it saw.
Capabilities
  • Watcher and judge. Sees everything you break and can step in.
  • Banishment. Strike it and it banishes you.
  • Undying. It cannot be killed. Yet.

THE ARCHFIENDS

When Hell broke through to the surface, four rulers climbed out with it. Each one claims a region of Hell on Earth, marked by a pillar of hellfire you can see from the sky.

Origin
The ash plains at the bottom of Hell, where his crown was forged from cooled embers.
Purpose
To bury the surface in ash and crown himself over the Present.
Backstory
When the crust tore open and Hell on Earth began, Vorgath was the first Archfiend to climb through. The sky turns red wherever he stands, and the crowds in the streets below scatter at the sight of him. He sees the God Demon as a lesser copy of himself, another king of fire who has not earned his crown, and he wants that crown for his collection. His pillar of hellfire is the tallest in Hell on Earth, and he likes it that way.
Capabilities
  • ASH STORM. Burning hail rains down across the area. Keep moving when it falls.
  • Pillar of hellfire. A column of hellfire marks his region so you can find him from the sky.

Origin
The prison pits of Hell, where he served as jailer and wore his own chains as armor.
Purpose
To chain every god to the ground and drag them down to the pits.
Backstory
Every chain wrapped around Skarneth was forged from a broken oath, and he carries more of them than anyone can count. For ages he kept Hell's prisoners locked in, until the breach to the surface let every one of them out at once. Rather than admit he failed, Skarneth decided the whole surface is now his prison. He does not chase. He just throws a chain and pulls.
Capabilities
  • CHAIN LASH. Chains you and drags you in. Hold boost to break free.
  • Pillar of hellfire. A column of hellfire marks the region he guards.

Maelith's ribcage is a nest, and imps tumble out of it in shrieking, mischievous waves. She calls the other Archfiends her unruly children and acts like she means it. When the breach opened she sent her brood up first to see what the surface was like, and they came back thrilled. Her wail can knock a whole block flat, and she saves it for anyone who touches her imps.
Capabilities
  • BROOD. Births imps from her ribcage. Take out the imps.
  • WAIL. Shrieks a shockwave across the ground. Fly above it.

Origin
The burning skies over Hell, where the locust swarms ride the rising heat.
Purpose
To blot out every sky with his swarm. Of all the Archfiends, Thessk is the one who wants the God Demon's place in the sky most.
Backstory
Thessk was born out of the swarm itself, a tyrant who rose by eating the attention of everything around him. He hates the ground, hates walls and hates anything that flies higher than he does, which is why he hates the God Demon most of all. His locusts are made of fire, and they hunt whatever he points at. When the swarm has done its work, Thessk folds his wings and dives.
Capabilities
  • SWARM. Homing locust fire hunts you through the air. Smash the locusts.
  • DIVE. Then he dives straight at you. Dodge the dive.
