PRIVACY POLICY
Short version. Your progress is saved on your device. The game creates a random Player ID (no name, no email) and uses it to deliver gifts from our server. We never see your payment card. Ads (when shown) come from Google AdMob, which uses your device's advertising ID. You can ask us to delete your data at any time on our data deletion page.
This Privacy Policy explains how the Temporal Apex mobile game (the "game") and the website temporalapex.com (the "website") collect, use and share information, and the choices you have. The game and website are provided by Semper Fi Games, Temecula, California, USA ("Semper Fi Games," "we," "us"). The game's Google Play package name is com.temporalapexstudios.game.

1. Information we collect
Saved on your device only
Your game progress and settings are stored on your device: level, experience, Cosmic Shards, upgrades, unlocked powers and eras, which relics and secrets you have found, the state of the worlds you have wrecked, and your sound, look, control and quality settings. This information stays on your device and is not sent to us. Uninstalling the game or clearing its data deletes it.
Player ID
The first time you play, the game creates a random Player ID on your device (it looks like TA-7F3K-9Q2M). It is not based on your name, email, phone number or any hardware identifier. You can see and copy it in the Shard Forge under "YOUR PLAYER ID."
Information sent to our game server
When you open the game, it connects to our game server (hosted by Railway) to:
- download the current in-game announcements and monthly news;
- check whether we have sent a gift (such as Shards, an unlock or a badge) to your Player ID; and
- record that you claimed a gift, so the same gift is not delivered twice.
These requests can include your Player ID and the gifts you claim. Like any internet connection, they also carry technical information such as your IP address, the time of the request and basic connection details, which our hosting provider may log for security and reliability. We do not use this information to identify you, and we do not combine it with your Player ID to build a profile.
Information you choose to give us
- Riddles, prizes and testing sign-up. If you sign up for the monthly riddle email, prize drawings or testing through our Google Form, we collect what the form asks for, such as your name, your email address and, if you choose, your Player ID.
- Support, bug reports and ideas. If you email us, including through the BUGS & IDEAS button (which opens your own email app with your Player ID and basic device details already filled in), we receive your email address, your message, anything you attach, and the details in the email.
Purchases
The game offers in-app purchases, such as a one-time Remove Ads unlock and content packs. Purchases are processed entirely by Google Play. We never receive or store your payment card or bank details. Google Play tells the game which items you own, so the game can unlock them and restore them if you reinstall.
Advertising
The free version of the game shows, or will show, ads provided by Google AdMob: banner ads, full-screen ads between scenes, and optional rewarded videos you can choose to watch for in-game rewards. AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address (from which an approximate location can be inferred), device and app information, and how you interact with ads. See Advertising ID and your ad choices.
Google Play Games Services
The game uses, or will use, Google Play Games Services for cloud saves, leaderboards and achievements. If you sign in to Play Games, Google provides the game with your Play Games profile (such as your gamer name and avatar) and stores your saved game, achievements and scores. Leaderboard scores and your gamer name may be visible to other players, depending on your Play Games settings.
Online and multiplayer features
We plan to add a multiplayer mode in which other players can find and attack your planets. When it launches, our server will store your planets' data, your display name and the results of attacks, and other players will see your display name and planets. We will update this policy before that feature launches.
Sharing pictures
When you tap SHARE THIS, the game saves a picture to your device's photo gallery and opens your device's share menu. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you choose an app to share it with.
What we do not collect
The game does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos (other than saving the pictures you choose to share), or files. The only Android permission the game requests is internet access. The game has no chat and does not require an account or login.
The website
The website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our web host may log standard request information (such as IP address, browser type and pages viewed) for security and reliability. The website loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers to fetch them.
2. How we use information
- To run the game, save your progress and settings, and deliver gifts, rewards and announcements.
- To unlock and restore what you buy.
- To show ads in the free version and give rewards for optional rewarded videos.
- To provide cloud saves, leaderboards and achievements through Google Play Games Services.
- To answer support emails, fix bugs, review ideas and send the rewards we promise for them.
- To send the monthly riddle email and run prize drawings and testing you signed up for.
- To keep the game and our server secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with the law.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do not use your information for any purpose that is not described in this policy.
3. Third-party services
We use the following service providers. Each handles information under its own privacy policy.
- Google Play (distribution, Google Play Billing for purchases): Google Privacy Policy.
- Google AdMob (ads): How Google uses information from apps that use its services.
- Google Play Games Services (cloud saves, leaderboards, achievements): Google Privacy Policy.
- Google Forms, Google Sheets and Gmail (sign-up form, storing sign-ups, sending and receiving email): Google Privacy Policy.
- Railway (hosting for our game server): Railway Privacy Policy.
- Unity (the game engine): Unity Game Player and App User Privacy Policy.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, safety or property of our players or others, or as part of a sale or transfer of the game, in which case this policy will continue to apply to information transferred.
4. Advertising ID and your ad choices
Your Android device has an advertising ID, a resettable identifier that ad providers use to show and measure ads and to limit how often you see the same ad. Google AdMob uses it in the free version of the game. You are in control of it:
- Delete or reset it (Android 12 and later): open your device's Settings, then Privacy (or Security & privacy), then Ads, and choose Reset advertising ID or Delete advertising ID. Once deleted, apps receive a string of zeros instead of an ID.
- Older Android versions: open Settings, then Google, then Ads, and choose Reset advertising ID or turn on Opt out of Ads Personalization.
- Ad consent: where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), the game asks for your consent before personalized ads are shown, and you can change your choice later.
- Turn ads off: the one-time Remove Ads purchase turns off banner and full-screen ads. Optional rewarded videos stay available, but they only play if you choose to watch one.
Menu names can vary by device maker. Turning off personalization does not stop ads; it means the ads you see are less tailored to you.
5. Children
Temporal Apex is intended for teens and adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, consistent with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Children under 13 should not use the sign-up form or email us. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, email support@temporalapex.com and we will delete it. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
6. Data retention
- On-device progress and settings: kept on your device until you clear the game's data or uninstall it.
- Player ID gift records on our server: kept while they are needed to deliver gifts and prevent duplicate claims, and deleted within 30 days after you ask us to delete them.
- Server and hosting logs: kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting, then deleted automatically on our hosting provider's schedule.
- Sign-up form responses and emails: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, and deleted within 30 days of your request. We may keep a record that you unsubscribed so we do not email you again.
- Purchase records: kept by Google Play under Google's policies. Records we are required to keep for tax, accounting or legal reasons are kept only as long as the law requires.
- Ad and Play Games data: kept by Google under Google's policies.
7. Deleting your data
You can delete the progress saved on your device at any time by clearing the game's data or uninstalling the game. To ask us to delete the information we hold about you (your Player ID gift records, sign-up responses and emails), follow the steps on our Delete your Temporal Apex data page or email support@temporalapex.com. We complete deletion requests within 30 days.
8. Security
The game talks to our server over encrypted HTTPS connections. Access to our server, the sign-up spreadsheet and our email is limited to us and protected by passwords and, where the service offers it, two-step verification. We collect as little as we can: the Player ID is random and not tied to your identity unless you choose to give it to us. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify you as required by law if a breach affects your personal information.
9. International users
Semper Fi Games is based in the United States. Our server and our service providers may store and process information in the United States and other countries whose data protection laws may differ from the laws where you live. By using the game, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in those countries. Where the law requires it, we rely on our providers' standard safeguards for these transfers. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or a similar jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your information and to complain to your local data protection authority. Email us to use these rights. Our legal bases are performance of our service to you (running the game and delivering gifts and purchases), our legitimate interests (security and improving the game) and your consent (personalized ads and the sign-up form).
10. California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA) gives you the rights described below. We extend these rights to all California residents whether or not the law requires it of a business our size.
Categories of personal information
In the past 12 months we have collected, or once ads and online features launch will collect, these categories, from you, your device and our service providers, for the purposes in section 2:
- Identifiers: Player ID, IP address, advertising ID (through AdMob), Play Games profile, and your name and email address if you give them to us.
- Commercial information: records of items you bought, provided by Google Play.
- Internet or other electronic network activity: gift claims, interactions with ads, and server request logs.
- Approximate geolocation: inferred by AdMob from your IP address for ads. We do not collect precise location.
- Inferences: ad interests that Google may derive for personalized ads.
We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CCPA. We disclose these categories to the service providers listed in section 3 for the business purposes in section 2.
Sale and sharing
We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. When the game shows personalized ads through AdMob, the use of your advertising ID and ad interactions may be considered "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You can opt out of this sharing by deleting your advertising ID or turning off ad personalization (see section 4), or by emailing us with the subject "Do Not Sell or Share." Where AdMob offers restricted data processing for opted-out users, we will use it.
Your rights
- Right to know and access: ask what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it and whom we disclosed it to, and get a copy.
- Right to delete: ask us to delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to correct: ask us to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing: as described above.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information: we do not collect it, so there is nothing to limit.
- Right to non-discrimination: we will not deny you the game, charge you a different price or give you a different quality of service for using these rights.
How to make a request
Email support@temporalapex.com with your request and your Player ID and/or the email address you used with us. Because we do not collect names or accounts for most players, we verify requests by matching the Player ID or email address you give us with the information we hold, and we may ask you to reply from that email address or confirm your Player ID from the game. You may use an authorized agent; we may ask the agent for proof that you authorized them and ask you to confirm your identity with us. We respond within 45 days, and if we need more time (up to 45 more days) we will tell you why.
California's "Shine the Light" law (Civil Code section 1798.83) lets California residents ask about disclosures of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing. We do not make such disclosures.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the game changes, for example before ads, Play Games features or multiplayer go live. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we use information we already have, we will announce it in the game or on this website before it takes effect and, where the law requires, ask for your consent.
